NOMAD Residential Project was established in 1994, and provides supported accommodation for 24 young single people, who are between 16 and 25 years old, and who are homeless. The project consists of three different types of housing, with different levels of staff support. This is made up of:
- a seven-bed hostel, with 24 hour staff support. Each resident has their own bedroom and shared communal facilities
- Three shared houses provide the move-on accommodation from the hostel. The residents who live here are supported by key workers, who visit on a regular basis to provide more occasional support.
- eight self-contained single bedroom flats form the most independent part of the project. Unlike the other accommodation, residents are offered six month renewable tenancies. They are supported by key workers and also receive management visits from staff.

The project aims to provide the highest standard of accommodation it can afford, and hopes the residents will view it as 'home' and respect the facilities provided. It aims to provide high levels of support, and to take referrals from and work closely with other agencies, to co-ordinate any individual help which a resident may need. The eventual aim is to enable residents to live independently. Individual plans are developed, based around skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning and training for employment. Long term accommodation is provided - residents can stay in the project for up to 2 years. On leaving, the project aims to have secured good quality alternative accommodation. |
