Outlined below are some of the main points relevant to working for NOMAD. If you require any further information, you can contact NOMAD on 0114 263 6624, or e-mail us with your question. If you need further information about current vacancies, volunteering or training, follow the links below.

Diversity statement
NOMAD works within multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-faith communities. NOMAD values and celebrates the diversity that exists amongst both its service users and staff, and recognises that equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination is a fundamental right.

Disclosure checks
Given that NOMAD's work involves direct contact with children/young people and vulnerable adults, it is possible that any worker may at some time find themselves alone with a client where they may not be disturbed. For this reason, all staff working for NOMAD will be required to consent to a CRB Disclosure being requested. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar someone from working with us but it will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances of the offence.

Pension
All NOMAD's permanent staff are entitled to 6% of their salary to be paid into NOMAD's stakeholder pension scheme. This is effective after successfully passing their probation period, and is backdated to the start of their employment. Staff may make their own contributions if they wish.

Annual Leave

NOMAD's annual leave entitlement is 38 days pro rata, which includes all public holidays. Staff can choose whether they wish to work on public holidays (subject to health and safety considerations). This allows staff to celebrate their own religious holidays or festivals rather than being obliged to take leave at prescribed times.

Personal development
NOMAD is committed to ensuring that all its staff have the relevant training for their job and for their own personal development. Wherever possible, requests for training or for development opportunities will be supported and encouraged. Click on the link below for more information about training.

Induction
New staff receive a full induction, which includes visits to all the projects, dedicated time to familiarise themselves with NOMAD's policies and procedures, an introduction to the aims and objectives of NOMAD, and all the practical 'housekeeping ' information they need. This covers time sheets, leave monitoring, access to the building etc. All new staff are given a Induction Pack to keep.

Pay scales
NOMAD operates incremental pay scales for its staff. In addition, a cost of living rise is negotiated each April with staff and Union involvement.

Management
NOMAD is ultimately managed by its Management Committee, who meet on a monthly basis. It is managed on a day to day basis by its Director, Operational Director and Project Managers
